Supervalu Acquires Albertson's, Now Ranks Third
Supervalu Inc. (Minneapolis) completed its acquisition of the premier retail properties of Albertson's Inc., which include Acme Markets, Bristol Farms, Jewel, Shaw's Supermarkets, Star Markets, and Albertson's stores. As a result of the acquisition, which totals more than 1,100 stores, Supervalu will reportedly become the nation's third-largest supermarket chain by revenues and provide distribution and related logistics support services to more than 5,000 grocery stores across the country.
