America's Transportation Infrastructure Is Broken And Needs To Be Fixed Now
America's aging transportation infrastructure can't keep up with the pace of global commerce, says John Bowe, president of the Americas for global transportation provider APL and its sister company APL Logistics. If it isn't overhauled, consumers and the U.S. economy will pay a steep price, he warns. Manufacturing Output Expected To Outpace U.S. Economy
Although many forecasters believe growth of the U.S. economy will slow for the rest of this year and into the early months of 2007 -- Merrill Lynch & Co., for example, foresees a deceleration to an annual rate of just 2% in the first quarter of next year -- U.S. manufacturing output promises to outpace the overall economy in 2006. Suit Seeks Public Release of All OSHA Sampling Results
The U.S. Dept. of Labor has been hit with a lawsuit filed under the Freedom of Information Act that seeks to release the results of air and other types of sampling data collected by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration during site inspections of all workplaces nationwide from 1979 through June 1, 2005. The suit Adam M. Finkel v. United States Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration -- was filed November 22, 2005, in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey. Read more


Gateway Selects Nashville For New Manufacturing Facility
Gateway, Inc. has selected Nashville, Tenn., as the site for a manufacturing facility that is scheduled to open by October 2006. First-year employment in the facility is expected to grow to more than 300 people with an annual payroll of about $8 million. Read more
