Air Cargo Security Is About To Get Tighter
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has stepped up its efforts to strengthen air cargo security by announcing requirements designed to protect the more than 50,000 tons of cargo that is transported aboard passenger and all-cargo aircraft each day. The security requirements mark the first substantial changes to air cargo regulations since 1999, and represent a joint government-industry vision of an enhanced security baseline. Read more

China Sets Environment-Friendly Standards For Electronic Products
As the second largest manufacturer of electronic products globally, valued at US$427 billion in 2005, China announced the formation of environment-friendly standards, according to a May 17 article on People's Daily Online. The regulations, announced May 16 at a national conference, demands that all electronic products meet environment-friendly standards. The regulation becomes effective March 1, 2007. Read more


New Corrosion-Resistant Aluminum Alloy Offered
A new die-casting alloy has been developed and patented by MDW Technologies L.L.C., Newport Beach, CA, and reportedly offers corrosion-resistance like other commercially available aluminum alloys, but better heat-transfer characteristics. Unlike comparable alloys A360, A380 and A413, Delphi K-Alloy is said to withstand corrosive conditions without coatings or special designs. Read more


Pennsylvania Machinist Is 2006 National Small Business Person Of The Year
Eric A. Hoover of Conneaut Lake, Pa., was named recently the National Small Business Person of the Year. Hoover founded Excalibur Machine Company in 1988 to provide original equipment manufacturing, machining and fabricating services for larger manufacturing companies. Read more
