Diesel Costs Are Going To Climb Even More
Diesel fuel costs are projected to climb as the American Trucking Associations (ATA) adds $4.0 billion to its 2006 projections, bringing the total to $98.3 billion. The upward shift in estimates follows the Energy Information Administration's adjusted forecast of the national annual average price for diesel of $2.70 per gallon. It had previously projected a cost of $2.59 per gallon. Read more


Mittal v. Arcelor: The Battle Begins
Mittal Steel waited almost four months to launch its a hostile takeover offer for Arcelor S.A. on Thursday, then quickly raised its bid from an estimated $24 billion in cash and stock to roughly $33 billion, with 57% more cash than originally proposed. The updated offer also includes a promise by the Mittal family to diminish to less than 50% their stake in the combined Mittal/Arcelor. Read more
